Feminist Fairy Tales at Rutgers Library
This afternoon the Paul Robeson Library of Rutgers University, Camden, hosted a talk by Dr. Holly Blackford of the English Dept. on "Feminist Fairy Tales." She discussed the standard versions of stories such as "Cinderella" and "Little Red Riding Hood" as well as modern interpretations of fairy tales by writers such as Margaret Atwood and Angela Carter. To top it off she talked about an article which describes "Shrek" as more of a male buddy film than a princess-oriented fairy tale. Twenty-five people attended. This was the third faculty research presentation the library has sponsored and hopefully there will be more next year.

A modern Day Fairy tale I give for everything from births to graduataion gifts is Princess Bubble.
I'll take a look at it. I often give The Paperbag Princess as gifts to parents of new or toddler girls. The message is timeless and even grownups like it.
