Riviera Update

My favorite lunch spot, La Riviera, has been closed for a few days now. A sign has been put on the door saying it is closed for the day. A little snooping has led me to believe this is temporary, but that isn't certain. The Camden Courier Post ran a story "Waterfront eatery closes," on June 11, which implies the closing is permanent. Hope springs eternal -- I'll assume it will re-open in good time.

Oh, no! I've been away on vacation, come back, and my favorite lunch spot is closed. I went there 2-3 times per week and it was always packed with a line out the door at lunchtime. They had the best bread for their sandwiches. I hope it will reopen soon. First the soup place, then Subway, now La Riviera...I hope Mrs. G's isn't the next to go. =(

It was a shock to me, too. Hopefully it is just a temporary blip. It would be hard to keep a restaurant open when there would be little evening or weekend business, though surely that expectation would be reflected in the rent.

Let's keep those fingers crossed for a quick reopening!!

It's a shame - I work right across the street from La Riviera and we ate there every Thursday for lunch. Their food was superior to anything else in this area and even many establishments outside of this area. They must have used some of the best ingredients because everything was always loaded with flavor, but never too much of it. We all hope to see them reopen, eventually. Unfortunately there have been rumors that the landlord will not reduce their rent even though the promised local development has not happened.

I liked their food, too. And the prices were reasonable as well. Let's hope they return soon.

Julie - in your original review of La Riviera, someone in the comments made a reference to the owners of La Riviera (Sal and Laura) having a location in Deptford...do you know anything about this? Perhaps the restaurant name or where it is in Deptford? I live in that area and would love to see if their Deptford location has similar food to La Riviera...Google is turning up nothing.

b,

At one time the family owned or was affiliated with Frank's III Pizzaria in Deptford. Or at least I think so. Frank's is still operating. If you visit Frank's and find out anything please let us know.
